Aftas

Aftas, and he is not known to have a name or a tribe.

He lived in Sham.

Abu Nu'aym said: No one from the early generations mentioned him as a companion, but some later scholars mentioned him based on a hadith from Ibn Abi 'Ubaydah, who said: I met a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, who was called Aftas, wearing a Khaz cloak.

He was reported by three narrators.

I said: Ibn Manda agreed with him on reporting this, as Abu 'Umar mentioned him, and Ibn Abi 'Asim mentioned him in his book Al-Ahad wa al-Mathani, and they said: Ibn Abi 'Ubaydah reported from him, and he said: I saw a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, wearing a Khaz cloak, and it is clear that Ibn Manda did not report this alone.
