Biography of Aws ibn al-Fatk

B S: Aban ibn al-Fa'tik, or al-Fa'id with a dāl, or al-Fa'kh.

He said Abu Musa: Abdan mentioned him on the basis of doubt, he said: and Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: and was killed from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Khaybar from the Ansar, then from the Banu Uways, then from the Banu 'Amr ibn 'Awf: Aban ibn al-Fa'id.

He was narrated from his shaykhs that Aban ibn al-Fa'tik was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ who was killed on the day of Khaybar, as Abu Musa said.

And Abu 'Umar said: Aban ibn al-Fa'kh the Ansari from the Banu Uways, was killed on the day of Khaybar as a martyr, for there was a difference of opinion regarding the name of his father, it was said: Fa'kh, it was said: Fa'tik, it was said: Fa'id.

And Allah knows best.

He was narrated by Abu Musa and Abu 'Umar.

[2 - Aban ibn Qayzi]

D: Aban ibn Qayzi ibn 'Amr ibn Zayd ibn Jashm ibn Haritha the Ansari al-Harithi, he witnessed the Battle of Badr.

He, and his sons: Kabatha, and 'Abd Allah, did not attend the Battle of 'Uraba with his father and brothers, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ considered him too young, so he returned him on that day, this is the statement of Abu 'Umar.

And Abu Musa narrated it in what he verified on Ibn Mandah.

We were informed by Abu Musa, permission, we were informed by Abu 'Ali al-Hasan ibn Ahmad, we were informed by Abu Tahir Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahim, we were informed by Abu Muhammad ibn Hibban Abu al-Shaykh, we were informed by Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Tabaraki, we were informed by Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn 'Isa al-Damaghani, we were informed by Salama ibn al-Fadl, we were informed by Muhammad ibn Ishaq, he said: the trustworthy one, from Zayd ibn Aslam, he said: Shasa ibn Qays, who was an old man, and it was possible that he was a great unbeliever, and a severe oppressor of the Muslims, and a severe envier of them, for a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the Banu Uways and the Banu Khazraj were in a gathering, and they were discussing, and he was enraged by what he saw of their gathering and their friendship, and their good behavior towards one another on Islam, after the enmity that was between them in the Days of Ignorance, so he said: the leaders of the Banu Qayla, meaning: the Banu Uways and the Banu Khazraj, have gathered in this land, no, by Allah, we have no connection with them when their leaders gather in it, so he ordered a young Jewish man who was with him, he said: raise him up and sit him with them, then he mentioned them on the day of Bu'ath, what was in them, and he recited some of what they used to discuss among themselves from the poetry, and the day of Bu'ath was a day when the Banu Uways and the Banu Khazraj fought each other, so he did, and the people spoke among themselves, so they disputed and boasted until two men from the Banu Hayyay rose up against the caravan: Aban ibn Qayzi, one of the Banu Haritha ibn al-Harith ibn Uways, and Jabbar ibn Sakhr, one of the Banu Salama, they disputed, then one of them said to his companion: if you wish, by Allah, we have returned it to its place now, and the two groups became angry, and they said: we have done it, the arms, the arms, and the agreed-upon meeting is the clear one, and the clear one: the Harra, so they exited towards it, and the people clashed, and the Banu Uways joined each other on the call that they had in the Days of Ignorance, so that reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he exited towards them with some of the Muhajirun from his companions, until he came to them, so he said: O group of Muslims, Allah, Allah, do you return to the call of the Days of Ignorance, and I am among your midst after Allah the Exalted guided you to Islam, and honored you with it, and cut off from you the affair of the Days of Ignorance, and saved you from disbelief with it, and united you, do you return to what you were as unbelievers?, so the people recognized that it was a whisper from the devil, and a trick from their enemy for them, so they threw down their arms from their hands, and they wept, and the men from the Banu Uways and the Banu Khazraj hugged each other, then they departed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, listening and obeying, and Allah extinguished the trick of their enemy, and the enemy of Allah: Shasa ibn Qays.

So Allah the Exalted revealed regarding Shasa ibn Qays and what he did: Say to the people of the Book, why do you deny the verses of Allah, and Allah
