Biography of Tha'labah ibn Zayd
S: Tha'laba b. Zayd last.
He said Abu Musa: Abdan also mentioned him, and said: I heard Ahmad b. Yasar, say: Tha'laba b. Zayd al-Harith b. Ka'b b. Ghunm b. Ka'b b. Salama b. Sa'd b. Ali b. Asad b. Sardah b. Tuzah b. Gashm b. al-Khazraji al-Ansari al-Khazraji, witnessed Badr, no narration is preserved for him.
And Abu Musa mentioned him, from az-Zuhri, and said: He is the one who is called al-Jad' Abu Thabit b. Tha'laba.
And al-Hafiz Abu Abd Allah mentioned Tha'laba b. Zayd, without attributing him, and said: He was mentioned in al-Maghazi, and also said: Tha'laba b. al-Jad' witnessed Badr, and was killed on the day of Ta'if.
He was mentioned by Abu Musa.
I said: This is Tha'laba b. Zayd, who was mentioned by Ibn Mandah, except that he said: Tha'laba b. al-Jad' al-Ansari from Banu al-Khazraji, then from Banu Salama, then from Banu Harim, and we mentioned there that al-Jad' was a nickname for him, so he is he, no doubt.
And Ibn Mandah said: He witnessed Badr, and was killed on the day of Ta'if, and it was Ibn Mandah who erred in his father's name, he called him al-Jad', and he was Zayd, and Allah knows best.
