Biography of Thalabah ibn Say'ah
Tha'labah b. Sua'iyah, and it was said: ibn Yamain.
Sa'id b. Jubayr, and Ikrimah, related from Ibn Abbas, said: When 'Abd Allah b. Salam, and Tha'labah b. Sua'iyah, and As'ad b. Sua'iyah, and Asad b. 'Ubaid, and those who became Muslim from the Jews with them, believed and were truthful, and desired Islam, the Jewish scholars, and the people of disbelief among them: said, by Allah: We have not believed in Muhammad, nor followed him except for our wicked ones, and if they were from our best ones, they would not have abandoned the religion of their fathers, and gone to another, so Allah, the Exalted, revealed in response to their statement: ﴿Laysu sawa'an min ahli al-kitabi ummatun qaimatun﴾ to His saying: ﴿mina al-salihin.
They all narrated it.
This is the wording of Abu Nu'aym, and whoever hears it thinks that they both became Muslim at the same time, and 'Abd Allah b. Salam, and that is not the case, and Abu 'Umar mentioned it more clearly than this, and said about Tha'labah: His mention has preceded in the three who became Muslim on the day of Quraizah, and they were prevented from their blood and wealth, and this was after 'Abd Allah b. Salam's Islam.
He said: And al-Bukhari said: Tha'labah b. Sua'iyah, and As'ad b. Sua'iyah died during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ.
He said: And al-Tabari mentioned that Ibn Ishaq said about Tha'labah b. Sua'iyah, and As'ad b. Sua'iyah, and Asad b. 'Ubaid: They were from the Banu Hadl, and they were not from the Banu Quraizah, nor the Banu al-Nadir, so they were given an additional ancestry, they were the uncles of the people, and they became Muslim on the night that Quraizah was conquered according to the judgment of Sa'd b. Mu'adh.
As'ad: with a fat-ha, and a kasra on the sin, and Sua'iyah: with a sin that is open, and a sukun on the 'ayn, and the last letter is a yaa with two dots underneath.
