Biography of Thalabah ibn Wadi'ah

Dhahabi: Tha'labah ibn Wadi'ah al-Ansari was one of those who stayed behind from Tabuk, so they tied themselves to the palm trees until Allah forgave them.

Al-A'mash reported from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir: There were six people who stayed behind from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): Abu Lababah, Aws ibn Khudham, Tha'labah ibn Wadi'ah, Kab ibn Malik, Mararah, and Hilal ibn Umayyah. So Abu Lababah, Aws ibn Khudham, and Tha'labah came, tied themselves, and brought their money, and they said: O Messenger of Allah, take it, this is the one who detained us from you, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: I will not accept it until there is fighting.

So Allah the Exalted revealed: ﴿And others who confessed their sins and mixed a righteous deed with another evil deed﴾.

It was reported by Ibn Mandah and Abu Nu'aym.

It has been said that the story of Abu Lababah is different, and it is mentioned in his biography.
