Juwayriya bint al-Harith

Juwayriyah bint al-Harith Juwayriyah bint al-Harith ibn Abi Dirar ibn Habib ibn Aidh ibn Malik ibn Judhaymah, who is al-Mustaliq ibn Sa`d ibn Amr ibn Rabi`ah ibn Haritha ibn Amr Maziqiya, and Amr is the father of Khuza'ah al-Mustaliqah. She had been married to Musafa' bin Safwan Al-Mustaliqi. She then fell to the allotted share of Thabit bin Qais bin Shamas, or of his cousin. She said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, divided the captives of Banu Al-Mustaliq, Juwayriyah bint Al-Harith fell in love with Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas, or a cousin of his, and wrote it down to herself. She was a sweet and courteous woman, and no one saw her unless she took it for himself, so she came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, seeking his help in writing it down. Aisha said: By Allah, unless I saw her, I hated her. I said: He sees in her what I saw, so when She went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and said: O Messenger of Allah, I am Juwayriyah bint Al-Harith, the leader of his people. I have been afflicted with an affliction that is not hidden from you. I wrote against myself, so I mean in my writing. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: (Or better than that, I will pay your debts and marry you?) She said: Yes. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, did so.

People were informed that he had married her. They said: The in-laws of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So they sent whatever Banu al-Mustaliq they had in their hands, and a hundred members of the family of the Banu al-Mustaliq were freed with it. I do not know of a woman with a greater blessing than her for her people. And when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, married her, he blocked her and made an oath for her. Her name was Burra, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, called her Juwayriyah. Narrated by Shu'bah, Mas'ar, and Ibn Uyaynah, on the authority of Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman, the client of the Talha family. On the authority of Kuraib, the client of Ibn Abbas, on the authority of Ibn Abbas. Israel narrated, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, on the authority of Kurayb, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, who said: Maymunah's name was Barrah, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, called her Maymumah, said by Abu Omar.

Juwayriyah narrated on the authority of the Prophet ﷺ narrated by Ibn Abbas, Jabir, Ibn Omar, Ubaid bin al-Sabbaq, and others. Reported by Abu Jaafar, on the authority of Ibn Ishaq, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Juwayriyah bint Al-Harith after Zainab bint Jahsh, and before him she was with a cousin of hers called: Ibn Dhul-Shifar, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died without having any children from her. Reported by Ibrahim bin Muhammad and others, on the authority of Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman, who said: I heard Kurayb narrating on the authority of Ibn Abbas, on the authority of Juwayriyah bint Al-Harith: the Prophet ﷺ passed by her while she was in her mosque. He then passed by her close to midday, and said to her: (Are you still feeling well?) She said: Yes.
