Hujr ibn Adi

B S: Hajar ibn 'Adi ibn Mu'awiya ibn Jabala ibn 'Adi ibn Rabi'a ibn Mu'awiya al-Akramin ibn al-Harith ibn Mu'awiya ibn Thaur ibn Marrat ibn Mu'awiya ibn Kindah al-Kindi. He is known as Hajar al-Khayr and is the son of Adi al-Adbar. He was named Adi al-Adbar because he criticized his foster brother, and so he was called Adi al-Adbar. He visited the Prophet ﷺ, along with his brother Hani', and witnessed the Battle of Qadisiyyah. He was one of the esteemed companions and was in charge of Kindah at Siffin, and on the right flank at the Battle of Nahrawan. He also witnessed the Battle of the Camel with 'Ali. He was one of the prominent companions of 'Ali. When Ziyad took over Iraq and showed harshness and bad behavior, Hajar's removal was a relief. However, he did not remove Mu'awiya. A group of 'Ali's Shia followed him. One day, he delayed the prayer with his companions, so Ziyad wrote to Mu'awiya to send him and his companions. Mu'awiya ordered him to send them with Wail ibn Hajar al-Hadrami and a group of people. When they approached Marj 'Adhra', he said, 'I am the first of the Muslims to grow old in its surroundings.'
