Zayd ibn Kharijah

Zayd b. Kharija b. Zayd b. Abu Zuhayr ibn Malik b. Amr al-Qays b. Malik al-Agharr b. Tha'laba b. al-Khazraj b. al-Harith b. al-Khazraj al-Ansari al-Khazraj al-Harithi.

Al-Tabari mentioned his lineage, and Abu Nuaym, in this translation, said: Zayd b. Kharija b. Abu Zuhayr, and they mentioned in the translation of his father Kharija b. Abu Zuhayr, so they omitted Zayd, the father of Kharija here, and confirmed him in his father, and the correct one is to confirm him as we mentioned at the beginning of this translation, and this Zayd is the one who spoke after his death in most of the narrations, and this is correct, and it was said: that the one who spoke after his death was his father Kharija, and this is not correct, because it is well-known about his father that he was killed on the day of Uhud, and we mentioned it, and as for the speech of Zayd, he fell into a coma before his death, so they thought he was dead and imprisoned his shroud, then he regained consciousness, and spoke with words that were preserved about Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, ﴿, then he died, and it was said: that this one witnessed the Battle of Badr, and it was said: that his father Kharija b. Zayd witnessed it, and this is correct.

We were informed by Abu Yasir b. Abu Habba, with his isnad to Abdullah b. Ahmad, he said: My father informed me, Abu Yasir informed us, Ali b. Bahar informed us, Isa b. Yunus informed us, Uthman b. Hakim informed us, Khalid b. Salama informed us, that Abd al-Hamid b. Abd al-Rahman called Musa b. Talha when he was aware of his son's death, and he said: O Abu Isa, how did you hear about the prayer for the Prophet ﷺ He said: From Zayd b. Kharija: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: How is the prayer for you? He said: 'Pray and strive, then say: O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, indeed you are praised and majestic.'

And Abu Nuaym here alone brought the hadith of Abu al-Tufayl, from Zayd b. Kharija, from the Prophet ﷺ about the prayer for al-Najashi, and Abu Umar brought it, from Zayd b. Jariya, and he is here, and as for Ibn Mandah, he did not mention it in either of them.
