Salamah ibn al-Adra'

Dhahabi: Salama is the one with the nickname al-Adra', and the Prophet ﷺ said about a group of people who would recite the Quran loudly, and he was among them: 'Let them recite, and I am with Ibn al-Adra', and the name of his father is Dhakwan.

Abu Yasir ibn Abi Habba informed us, with his isnad to Abdullah ibn Ahmad, that my father told me, that Wakee' informed me, that Hisham ibn Sa'd informed me from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Ibn al-Adra', who said: I used to guard the Prophet ﷺ one night, so he went out for some need, and he said: and I saw him, so he took my hand, and we set out, and we passed by a man who was praying loudly reciting the Quran, so the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Perhaps he is a rival.'

He said: I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, shall we pray loudly reciting the Quran?' So he rejected my hand, and said: 'Indeed you will not attain this matter through force', and he said: then he went out one night, and I was guarding him for some need, so he took my hand, and we passed by a man who was praying loudly reciting the Quran, so I said: perhaps he is a rival, and the Messenger of Allah said: 'No, indeed he is a penitent', and he said: so I looked, and behold, it was Abdullah with the two sandals.'
