Biography of Salim ibn al-Harith

B: Salim ibn al-Harith ibn Tha'laba ibn Ka'b ibn Abd al-Ashhal ibn Haritha ibn Dinar ibn al-Najjar al-Ansari al-Khazraji then from Banu Dinar, witnessed Badr, it is said: that he was the slave of Banu Dinar, it is said: that he was Dhakwan ibn al-Harith ibn Tha'laba, it is said: that Dhakwan was the brother of Salim, and al-Nu'man were the sons of Abd Umar ibn Masud ibn Ka'b ibn Abd al-Ashhal, and all of them witnessed Badr, said Abu Amr.

As for Ibn al-Kalbi, he made al-Nu'man and Qatiba the sons of Abd Umar ibn Masud the brothers of Dhakwan ibn Umar for their father, and as for Salim, he attributed him as we mentioned first.

I said: Ibn Mandah did not mention this translation, nor did Abu Naim, but Ibn Mandah brought out in the translation that preceded this, which is Salim ibn al-Harith al-Sulami, that he witnessed Badr, and was killed on the day of Uhud as a martyr, from Banu Dinar ibn al-Najjar, as we mentioned, so if he had made this translation and confirmed the statement of Ibn Ishaq about his witnessing Badr, and that he was killed at Uhud, it would have been correct.

And as for Abu Naim, he brought out that translation on the right path, and did not mix the correct part of it with what contradicts it.

And as for Abu Musa, he did not confirm this translation on Ibn Mandah, and God knows best.
