Biography of Suheil ibn Sa'd
Dhahabi: Suhayl ibn Sa'd, brother of Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi, his genealogy is mentioned in his brother's biography.
Amr ibn Qays reported from Sa'd ibn Sa'id, brother of Yahya ibn Sa'id, he said: I heard Suhayl ibn Sa'd, brother of Sahl, say: I entered the mosque, and the Prophet ﷺ was in prayer, so I prayed, and when the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, he saw me performing two prostrations, so he said: 'What are these two prostrations?' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I came and the prayer had been established, so I wanted to join you in the prayer, then I prayed.' He was silent, and when he was pleased with something, he would be silent.
It was narrated by Ibn Mandah, and Abu Na'im, and Abu Na'im said: Some later narrators mentioned him, but it is an error, and the correct version is what was narrated by Ibn 'Uyayna, Ibn Numayr, and others, from Sa'd ibn Sa'id, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Qays ibn 'Amr, the grandfather of Sa'd ibn Sa'id, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer after morning prayer, and I was praying, and he mentioned something similar.
