Biography of Sif ibn Malik
Sif ibn Malik ibn al-Asahm ibn 'Uyun ibn Habal ibn Numran ibn al-Harith ibn Habran ibn Wa'il ibn Ra'in al-Ra'ini, then al-Jishani. He was the brother of Abu Tamim al-Jishani, and was older than him.
He converted to Islam during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and read the Quran to Mu'adh ibn Jabal. He migrated during the caliphate of 'Umar, and witnessed the conquest of Egypt.
He was narrated from by 'Uqba ibn Muslim, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Hubayra, and others.
