Shurayh ibn Han'i

Shurayh ibn Hanī'ah ibn Yazīd ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Ka'b, and it was said: Shurayh ibn Hanī'ah ibn Yazīd ibn Nahīk ibn Dardīyah ibn Sufyān ibn al-Ḍabbāb. His name was Salamah ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Rabi'ah ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Ka'b al-Ḥārithī.

The Prophet ﷺ met him and called him, and the Prophet ﷺ nicknamed his father: Abu Shurayh, and his father had a companionship, and Shurayh was nicknamed Abu al-Muqaddam.

He narrated from: Ali, Sa'd ibn Abī Waqqās, 'Ā'ishah, and he heard his father, Hanī'ah.

He narrated about: His sons, Muḥammad and al-Muqaddam, al-Shu'bah, Yūnus ibn Abī Iṣhāq, and he was one of the prominent companions of Ali, and he witnessed his battles, and he witnessed the two judgments at Dūmat al-Jandal, and he lived for a long time, and he went to Sistan as a warrior, and he was killed there in the year 77, and he had taken the disbelievers on the Muslims' path, and they had kept the roads in the mountains safe for them, and he killed most of that army, and Shurayh said that day:

I have become old and weak, … I have lived among the disbelievers for a long time

Then I met the Prophet who had foretold … and after him his friend and companion, 'Umar

The day of Mahran and the day of Istirā' … and the gathering at Siffin and the river

And the battle of Bajmīrāt with the Mushrikūn … Alas, this life is not long

It was said: He lived for 122 years. It was narrated by the three (Ibn Manda, Abū Nuʿaym, Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr).
