On dit : ghâla yaghûlu ghawlan, et ightâlahu.
Ghâlahu al-mawt signifie que la mort l'a emporté.
Al-ghûl désigne ce qui détruit et corrompt.
Le Très-Haut dit : 'Pas de maux de tête ni d'ivresse' (As-Saffat 47), c'est-à-dire ce qui corrompt la raison.
Et : 'Et nulle goule ne les en détournera' (As-Saffat 47).
