Biography of Asid ibn Salamah

S: Asayd ibn Salamah al-Sulami

We were informed by Abū Mūsá, by way of permission, who informed us that Abū Zakariyāʾ, the son of Mandah, in his book, informed us that his father and uncle, said: We were informed by Abū Ṭāhir ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Aḥmad al-Shīrāzī, who informed us that Abū al-Ḥusayn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Maḥmūd al-Bazzāz, of Tustar, informed us that al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Mubārak informed us that Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī al-Khazzāz al-Kūfī informed us that Muḥammad ibn ʿImrān ibn Abī Laylā informed us that Saʿīd ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn al-Walīd al-Ruṣāfī narrated to us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abī Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī, on the authority of his father ʿAlī, on the authority of his father al-Ḥusayn, on the authority of his father ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ sent out a scouting party, and they captured a man from Banū Sulaym, who was said to be: Asayd ibn Salamah. When the Messenger of God ﷺ saw him, he showed him mercy and offered him Islam, and he accepted. When his father learned of this, and he was an elderly man, he wrote to him saying:
