Biography of Al-Ash'ath al-Abdi
d ': Al-Ash'ath ibn Judan al-'Abdi came to the Prophet ﷺ, though it is said that it was 'Umayr ibn Judan, which is the correct account.
Abu Hamza reported on the authority of 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, on the authority of 'Umayr ibn al-Ash'ath ibn Judan, from his father: that he came to the Prophet ﷺ as part of a delegation from 'Abd al-Qays.
Another account was reported by a different narrator, who stated: Al-Ash'ath ibn 'Umayr ibn Judan.
Ibn Manda said: This is the correct account, and Abu Nu'aym said: The correct account is that of Al-Ash'ath ibn 'Umayr, on the authority of his father. Some people mistakenly reported it as 'Umayr ibn al-Ash'ath, which is incorrect. The account we mentioned, attributed to Ibn Manda, is similar to that of Abu Nu'aym, and there is no basis for criticizing it.
Ibn Manda and Abu Nu'aym reported it.
