Biography of Bashir ath-Thaqafi

Dhahabi: Bashir al-Thaqafi narrated from Hafsa bint Sirin, that he said: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I had vowed in the pre-Islamic era that I would not eat the meat of camels, nor drink wine, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: As for the meat of camels, all of it is permissible, and as for wine, do not drink it.

He was narrated by Ibn Mandah, and Abu Nu'aym.

Ibn Makula said: And there was a difference of opinion regarding his name, it was said: Bashir, and it was said: Bashir with a dammah, and it was said: Bujayr with a fatha and a jim.
