Biography of Hut ibn Abd al-Uzza
Hūṭ ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz said Abu ʿUmar: It is said that he is from the Banī ʿĀmir ibn Luʾay, related from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: 'Do not approach the angels with a bell in their company', he related it from Ibn Buraydah, and it was also said: Ibn Buraydah, from Hūṭ ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, and the correct one is Hūṭ, said Abu ʿUmar.
And Ibn Mandah, and Abu Naʿim said: Hūṭ, and it was also said: Hūṭ ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Qays ibn ʿAbd Wud ibn Nāsr ibn Mālik ibn Ḥassal ibn ʿĀmir ibn Luʾay, known as: Abu Muḥammad, and it was also said: Abu al-Aṣbaʿ, from the people of al-Fath, he resided in Mecca and died in the year forty-six, and he was one hundred and twenty years old, and he was mentioned in a hadith from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah, his hadith: 'Do not approach the angels with a bell in their company'.
He was narrated by the three except that Abu Naʿim mentioned this hadith in the biography of Hūṭ, and did not narrate Hūṭ ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, as if he considered them one.
And as for Ibn Mandah and Abu ʿUmar, they considered them two biographies, and God knows best, and he was also narrated by Abu Naʿim in Khūṭ with the letter khāʾ, and I will mention him there if God wills.
