Biography of Rashid ibn Malik
Rashid b. Malik Abu 'Umayrah al-Sa'di at-Tamimi. He was counted among the Kufans.
Abu al-Faraj b. Abi Raja' al-Thaqafi informed us, with his isnad to Abu Bakr b. Abi 'Asim, said: Asid b. 'Asim informed us, 'Abd Allah b. Raja' informed us, Ma'ruf b. Wasi', from Hafsa b. Talq, said: Abu 'Umayrah said, 'Rashid b. Malik: We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when a man came to him with a tray of dates, he said to him: 'What is this? A gift or charity?' The man said, 'Charity,' he said: 'He presented it to the people,' he said: 'And al-Hasan is young.'
he said: The boy took a date and put it in his mouth.
he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then poked his finger into the boy's mouth and pulled out the date, then threw it away, then said: 'Indeed, we, the family of Muhammad, do not eat charity.'
It was also narrated by Ibn Numayr, 'Abd al-Samad b. al-Nu'man, 'Abd Allah b. Raja', and 'Amr b. Marzuq, and others, from Ma'ruf b. Wasi', similar to this.
It was also mentioned by the three, and Abu 'Umar made him a Tamimi, and Ibn Makula made him a Mazni, and Abu Ahmad al-'Askari made him an Asdi, from Asad b. Khuzayma, who said: He is the grandfather of Ma'ruf b. Wasi'.
