Definition of To block / To close

Al-Waṣd refers to closing.

The Almighty says: 'It will be closed upon them' (Al-Humazah 8).

Awṣada means to close.

Al-mūṣadah is the closed.

Hell will be sealed upon its inhabitants.

Surah Al-Kahf : 18 Meccan

﴿وَتَحْسَبُهُمْ أَيْقَاظًا وَهُمْ رُقُودٌ وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ وَكَلْبُهُم بَٰسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِٱلْوَصِيدِ لَوِ ٱطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَوَلَّيْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِرَارًا وَلَمُلِئْتَ مِنْهُمْ رُعْبًا﴾

And you would think them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left, while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance. If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by them with terror.

Surah Al-Balad : 20 Meccan

﴿عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ﴾

Over them will be fire closed in.

Surah Al-Humaza : 8 Meccan

﴿إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ﴾

Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them
