Definition of Kinship / Genealogy

An-Nasab refers to kinship and lineage.

The Almighty says: 'When the Horn is blown, there will be no kinship among them' (Al-Mu'minun 101).

Nasaba means to attribute origin.

An-naṣīb is the share.

﴿فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَلَآ أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another.
Surah Al-Furqan : 54 Meccan
﴿وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهُۥ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ قَدِيرًا
And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. And ever is your Lord competent [concerning creation].
Surah As-Saffat : 158 Meccan
﴿وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment].
