Definition of Monstrous thing

Allah says: 'You have committed a monstrous thing (iddan)' (Maryam: 89), meaning a reprehensible thing that causes tumult.

This comes from 'addat an-nâqa' (the she-camel groaned loudly).

Al-adîd refers to tumult.
