Definition of To persist / Deep

Al-Lajj and al-lijāj refer to obstinacy in dispute.

The Almighty says: 'But they persist in their transgression, wandering blindly' (Al-Mu'minun 75).

Al-lajūj is the obstinate one who persists in error.

And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.

﴿أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّجُّوا۟ فِى عُتُوٍّۢ وَنُفُورٍ
Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion.
