Definition of To testify / To be present
Originally, ash-shahwa is the soul's inclination toward what it desires.
In this world, it is of two types: blameworthy when leading to evil, praiseworthy when aiming at legitimate needs.
The Almighty says: 'Beautified for people is the love of desires' (Al 'Imran 14).
Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best return.
We [angels] were your allies in worldly life and [are so] in the Hereafter. And you will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request [or wish]
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
