Biography of Abd Allah ibn Mas'ada
Abdullah bin Masada; according to another report, Ibn Masoud Al-Fazari, the owner of the armies, because he was their commander in the Roman invasion. Al-Tabarani named him in Al-Awsat, and others mentioned him among those who are not named. Reported by Abu Musa, on the authority of Ibn Masada, who said: Did you shorten the prayer or did you forget? Then the Prophet ﷺ said: "What do the two hands say?" They said: He spoke the truth, so he completed the two rak'ahs with them. He then prostrated the two prostrations of forgetfulness, while he was sitting after he had said the salutation. Suleiman said: Ibn Masada, his name is: Abdullah, one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and it was not narrated on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, except Abdul Razzaq. It was included by Abu Omar and Abu Musa. Al-Hafiz Abu Al-Qasim bin Asakir mentioned it.
In his history, he said: Abdullah bin Masada, and it is also said: Ibn Masoud bin Hikma bin Malik bin Hudhayfah bin Badr Al-Fazari. He had a vision from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Another report states: He was one of the captives of Fazara, and that the Prophet ﷺ gave him to Fatima. His daughter freed him. He lived in Damascus. He was with Muawiyah in Siffin. Yazid bin Muawiyah sent him to the soldiers of Damascus on the day of Al-Harrah. He remained until Marwan pledged allegiance to the caliphate in Al-Jabiya. Yahya bin Abbad bin Abdullah said, on the authority of his father, that Ibn Masada was strong in fighting. Ibn al-Zubayr, then Musab bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf hit him on the thigh and wounded him, and Ibn Abi Dara hit him from the other side and wounded him another wound, so he did not go out to war again until they turned away.
