Biography of Abrahah

S: Abrahah

We were informed by Abū Mūsá, by way of permission, who said: We were informed by ʿAbbād ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Muḥsin in his book, we were informed by Abū Aḥmad al-Makfūf, Ḥadathnā Abū Muḥammad ibn Ḥayyān, Ḥadathnā al-Walīd —he is ibn Abān—, Ḥadathnā Yūnus ibn Ḥabīb, Ḥadathnā ʿĀmir, from Yaʿqūb —he is al-Qummī—, from Jaʿfar, from Saʿīd ﴿al-Ḥijr: 20﴾, who said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ sent Jaʿfar with seventy riders to al-Najāshī. When they reached him, they found that the Prophet of Allāh had appeared at Badr. They asked for permission, and those who believed from the companions of al-Najāshī said to al-Najāshī: Grant us permission, so we may go to this Prophet whom we used to find in the Book. They came to the Prophet ﷺ and witnessed Uḥud with him. He mentioned from Muqātil or someone else, who said: They were forty men; thirty-two came with Jaʿfar al-Ṭayyār from al-Ḥabashah, and eight from al-Shām: Baḥīr, Abrahah, al-Ashraf, Tamām, Idrīs, Ayman, Nāfiʿ, and Tamīm.

This is what Abū Mūsá mentioned, and he is alone in it. Abrahah is not mentioned by anyone else, and I have some reservations about it. The Prophet
