Abzi al-Khuzai'i

Abzā, the father of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abzā al-Khuzāʿī.

Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl mentioned him in al-Wuḥdān, but his companionship and meeting [the Prophet] were not confirmed. His son ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, however, had confirmed companionship and meeting.

Ibn Mandah narrated with his chain, from Hishām ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Rāzī, from Bukayr ibn Maʿrūf, from Muqātil ibn Ḥayyān, from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abzā, from his father, from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ that he gave a sermon while standing, praising and thanking Allāh, and mentioning groups of Muslims, praising them, then said: What is wrong with people who do not know their neighbors, nor understand them, nor are attentive to them, nor command them, nor forbid them? What is wrong with people who do not learn from their neighbors, nor understand, nor are attentive? By the One in whose hand my soul is, they will certainly know their neighbors, understand them, be attentive to them, command them, and forbid them. Or I will surely hasten their punishment in this world. Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ descended and entered his house.

The ḥadīth.

Isḥāq ibn Rāhawayh narrated it in al-Musnad, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Sahl, from Bukayr ibn Maʿrūf, from Muqātil, from ʿAlqamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abzā, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet ﷺ in this manner.

Muḥammad ibn Abī Sahl is Muḥammad ibn Mazāḥim, Abū Wahb, who is unique in this.

Abū Nuʿaym opposed him, saying: Ibn Mandah mentioned that al-Bukhārī mentioned him in Kitāb al-Wuḥdān and extracted a ḥadīth from Abū Salamah, from Ibn Abzā, from his father, through Hishām, from Bukayr ibn Maʿrūf, from Muqātil, from Abū Salamah. However, Hishām only narrated it from Ibn Abzā, from the Prophet ﷺ without saying, from his father, [and] he also mentioned it through Muḥammad ibn Abī Sahl —who is Muḥammad ibn Mazāḥim— from Bukayr, from Muqātil, from ʿAlqamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and assumed that Isḥāq ibn Rāhawayh narrated it from Muḥammad ibn Abī Sahl, who is Muḥammad ibn Mazāḥim, from Bukayr in the same manner.

Isḥāq narrated it on its own, contrary to what was reported from him, so Abū Nuʿaym said: Ḥadathnā Sulaymān ibn Aḥmad, Ḥadathnā Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq ibn Rāhawayh, Ḥadathnā
