Biography of Anas ibn Fadalah

B. 'A: Anas b. Fudayl said Abu 'Umar: He is Fudayl b. 'Adi b. Harim b. al-Haytam b. Dhafar al-Ansari al-Zafari, the Messenger of Allah sent him and his brother Mu'nis when he heard that the Quraysh were approaching, intending to kill one of them. He intercepted them at al-'Aqiq and they went with them, then they came to the Messenger of Allah and informed him of their news, their number, and their descent. They witnessed with him one of them. And from the children of Anas b. Fudayl is Yunus b. Muhammad al-Zafari, his residence is in al-Saffar.

Related by Ibn Mandah and Abu Nai'm through their chains from Muhammad b. Anas, from his father: that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam went through the tribe of Banu Dhabyan, and mentioned a hadith by Ya'qub b. Muhammad al-Zuhri, from Idris b. Muhammad b. Yunus b. Muhammad b. Anas b. Fudayl al-Zafari, said: My grandfather Yunus b. Muhammad informed me, from his father, said: The Messenger of Allah came to Medina, and I was two weeks old, so he came to me and wiped his hand on my head and invoked blessings upon me, and said: Name him after me, and do not call him by my kunya.

said: And he made me accompany him on the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage, and I was ten years old and had a tuft of hair, so he lived until his hair and beard grew, and the Messenger of Allah's hand did not grow a hair's breadth.

said Abu Nai'm: Some of the narrators have omitted this, meaning: Ibn Mandah in the biography of Anas b. Fudayl, from the hadith of Ya'qub al-Zuhri, after he had omitted it from his hadith in the biography of Muhammad b. Anas b. Fudayl. This hadith is the very same, and Abu Nai'm said: Indeed Ibn Mandah mentioned this hadith in the biography of Anas, and also mentioned it in the biography of Muhammad b. Anas b. Fudayl, and in both places there is no mention of Anas, but rather it is a mention of Muhammad b. Anas, and Allah knows best.

Related by the three.

And Ibn Mandah said: Anas b. Fudayl was killed on the Day of Badr, so his son Muhammad was brought to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, and he gave him a charity that is not sold or given as a gift.
