Biography of Asir ibn Amr

Asir (also known as Asir ibn Amr ibn Qays ibn Malik ibn Adi ibn Amir ibn Ghanam ibn Adi ibn al-Najjar ibn Tha'labah ibn Amr ibn al-Khazraj) was also known as: Abu Sulayt ibn Abi Kharijah al-Ansari al-Khazraji al-Najjari from the Banu Adi ibn al-Najjar.

He witnessed the Battle of Badr. His son Abdullah reported that the Prophet ﷺ forbade the consumption of domestic donkeys' meat in Khayber, as the cooking pots were boiling with it, and they stopped cooking it.

It is also said: Asirah (with a 'h' at the end), as mentioned by Ibn Mākūlā and Abū ʿAmr.

Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq mentioned him: Asirah from the narration of Salamah: and mentioned him from the narration of Yūnus: Anas, and we will mention him in Anas, God willing.
