S: Aws b. Sa'ida al-Ansari

Aws b. Sa'ida al-Ansari entered upon the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and saw on his face the sign of displeasure.

He said: O son of Sa'ida, what is this sign of displeasure that I see on your face?

He said: O Messenger of Allah, I have daughters, and I invoke death upon them.

He said: O son of Sa'ida, do not invoke death upon them, for blessings are in daughters, they are the ones who are generous with blessings and the ones who are generous with calamities.

And it was narrated from another route, with the addition:

and the ones who are generous with hardship, their weight is on the earth, and their provision is from Allah.
