Biography of Hatib ibn Amr ibn Abd Shams
Hāṭib ibn ʿAmr ibn ʿAbd ash-Shams ibn ʿAbd Wud ibn Nasr ibn Mālik ibn Ḥassal ibn ʿĀmir ibn Lūy, brother of Suhayl and Sulayṭ and al-Sakhrān, from the Banū ʿAmr. He converted to Islam before the Prophet's ﷺ entry into the house of al-Arqam ibn Abī al-Arqam, and he migrated to the land of al-Habash with his brother, and this was the first migration in the opinion of some, and he witnessed the Battle of Badr with the Prophet ﷺ.
Mūsā ibn ʿUqba, Ibn Isḥāq, and al-Wāqidī mentioned Hāṭib ibn ʿAmr among those who migrated to the land of al-Habash, and those who witnessed the Battle of Badr:
and it was said about him: Hāṭib ibn ʿAmr, from the Banū ʿĀmir ibn Lūy, and it is mentioned in the kunyās, if Allah wills.
