Biography of Iyas ibn Qatada
Sahih: Iyas b. Qatada al-'Anbari, Abu al-Ghabri, as mentioned by Abu Musa on the basis of doubt, and as mentioned by a more reliable hadith by Awf b. Mulayh, who said: I visited the Messenger of Allah and he gave me a share, and stipulated: the son of the way is the first to arrive, and he gave a share to Saida, a man from us, a well in the desert called: al-Ja'uniyah, and he gave a share to Iyas b. Qatada al-'Anbari, the side one, which is below al-Yamama, and we all visited him, and one of us wrote this down in a document.
Abu Musa said: This lineage appears in different versions, in some of which he is called al-'Anbari, in some al-Ghabri, and in some al-'Anzi, and I do not verify it, and the same applies to the names of the places mentioned.
Authored by Abu Musa.
I said: The correct view is that he is al-'Anbari from the tribe of 'Anbar, and this is strengthened by the fact that Ibn Abi Awf b. Mulayh is a Tamimi and an 'Anbari.
