Biography of Jabir ibn Abdillah
Jabir bin Abdullah bin Amr bin Haram bin Ka'b bin Ghanam bin Ka'b bin Salamah. His lineage and that of the preceding Companion converge at Ghanam bin Ka'b; both belonged to the Ansari clan of Salamah. Other accounts give a different lineage, but this is the best-known. His mother was Nusaybah bint Uqba bin Adi bin Sinan bin Nabi bin Zaid bin Haram bin Kaab bin Ghanam. She and his father met in Haram. He was known by the kunya Abu Abdullah; according to another report, Abu Abdul Rahman, and the first is more correct. He witnessed the second Aqaba with his father when he was a boy. Some of them said: He witnessed Badr; in another account, He did not witness it, and so did the Battle of Uhud.
Abu Al-Fadl Al-Mansur bin Abi Al-Hasan bin Abi Abdullah Al-Makhzoumi told us, with his chain of transmission to Ahmad bin Ali bin Al-Muthanna, he said: Tell us Abu Khaythamah, a spirit told us, Zakariya told us, Abu Al-Zubayr told us, that he heard Jabir say: I fought seventeen battles with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Jabir: I did not witness Badr, nor did I witness anyone. My father prevented me, so when he was killed on the Battle of Uhud, I never left behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in a campaign. Al-Kalbi said: Jabir witnessed Uhud; some reports state instead: he witnessed with the Prophet ﷺ participated in eighteen battles. He witnessed Siffin with Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him. He was blind at the end of his life. He shaved his mustache and dyed his hair yellow. He was the last one to die in Medina who had witnessed Aqaba.
Ibn Mandah mentioned in his name that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, attended the season, and a group of Ansar left, including: As'ad bin Zurarah and Jabir bin Abdullah Al-Sulami and Qutba bin Aamer. He mentioned them. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, came to them and invited them to Islam, and mentioned the hadith. He thought that Jabir bin Abdullah Al-Sulami was Ibn Abdullah bin Amr bin Haram, but he was not, but rather he was Jabir bin Abdullah. Ibn Ri'ab. He was mentioned before this translation, and this Jabir was the youngest to witness the second Aqaba with his father, so he was initially a leader among them. This is far-fetched, although the correct narration from the imams is that he is Jabir Ibn Abdullah Ibn Ri'ab, and Allah knows best. He was one of those who spoke a lot in hadith and memorized the Sunnahs, and Muhammad Ibn Ali Ibn Ri'ab narrated from him.
Al-Hussein, Amr bin Dinar, Abu Al-Zubayr Al-Makki, Ata', Mujahid, and others. Reported by Abdullah bin Ahmed bin Abdul-Qahir, on the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: The throne of the Most Gracious shook at the death of Saad bin Muadh, so it was said to Jabir: Indeed, Al-Baraa', he said: The bed shook, so Jabir said: He was between These two neighborhoods, Aws and Khazraj, hold grudges. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, say: The throne of the Most Gracious shook. I said: Jabir is also from Khazraj. His religion led him to speak the truth and denounce those who concealed it.
