Biography of Jabir ibn Sumarah
Jabir ibn Samura ibn Jundab ibn Jundab ibn Hujayr ibn Ra'i ibn Habib ibn Suwaya ibn Amir ibn Sa'sa'a al-'Amiri then al-Suwai, and it was said: Jabir ibn Samura ibn 'Amr ibn Jundab, and there was a difference of opinion regarding his kunya, and it was said: Abu Khalid, and it was said: Abu 'Abd Allah, and he was a client of the Banu Zuhra, and he was the son of the sister of Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, his mother was Khalida bint Abi Waqqas, he resided in Kufa, and he built a house there, and he died during the days of Bishr ibn Marwan over Kufa, and 'Amr ibn Huraith al-Makhzumi led the prayer over him, and it was said: he died in the year sixty-six of the martyrdom of al-Mukhtar.
He narrated many hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ.
He was narrated from by: Shu'ba, and 'Amr ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, and Tamim ibn Tarafa al-Tayyi', and Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i, and Abu Khalid al-Walibi, and Simak ibn Harb, and Hisham ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, and Abu Bakr ibn Abi Musa, and others.
We were informed by al-Khatib 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad al-Tusi, with his isnad to Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi, he narrated to us Sulayman ibn Mu'adh al-Dbabi, from Simak, from Jabir ibn Samura, that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed, there is a stone in Mecca that used to submit to me every night when I was sent', and he narrated from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'When Caesar dies, there will be no Caesar after him, and when Kisra dies, there will be no Kisra after him, and by the One in Whose Hand is my soul, you will spend their treasures in the way of Allah.'
