Biography of Jarayah ibn Majma'
T: Jarir ibn Mijmar ibn Jarir narrated by al-Tabarani, from Mutin, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Uthman al-Hadrami, from Muhammad ibn Fudayl, from Zakariya ibn Abi Zaidah, from al-Sha'bi, said: The Quran was compiled during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) by six Ansar: Zayd ibn Thabit, Abu Zayd, Muadh ibn Jabal, Abu al-Dardaa, Sa'd ibn Ubada, and Abu ibn Ka'b, and Jarir ibn Mijmar ibn Jarir had read it except for one or two surahs.
So said al-Tabarani.
And it was narrated by Ishaq ibn Yusuf, from Zakariya, and he said: Mijmar ibn Jarir.
And so said Ismail ibn Abi Khalid, from al-Sha'bi, and this is the correct version.
Jarir ibn Amir was the father of Mijmar and was among those who took the mosque of ad-Dar, and Mijmar used to pray for them there, and this strengthens the saying of those who say: that Mijmar was the guardian of the Quran.
