Biography of Jariyah ibn Asram
Dhahabi: Jarir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Kilabi al-Ajdar was a member of the tribe of Kilab, the son of 'Amir ibn 'Uwf ibn Kinanah ibn 'Uwf ibn 'Adzarah ibn Zayd al-Lat ibn Rifidah ibn Thawr ibn Kilab ibn Wa'barah.
Al-Kilabi: He was called Ajdar because he used to sit near a wall, and a man approached him asking about 'Amir ibn 'Uwf ibn Bakr, and the man replied, 'Which of the two 'Amirs do you mean, 'Amir ibn 'Uwf ibn Bakr or 'Amir al-Ajdar?' He remained silent, and it was said that he had a large belly and was called Ajdar because of it, and from him were many knights.
Al-Sharqi ibn al-Qattami al-Kilabi reported from Zuhayr ibn Mansur al-Kilabi from Jarir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ajdar, who said: I saw Wadd in the pre-Islamic era in the form of a man in Duma al-Jandal.
And he mentioned the hadith.
Abu Nai'm: We do not know of his companionship or his sighting, and some narrators mentioned him among the companions, and it was said that he saw Wadd in Duma al-Jandal.
This is the statement of Abu Nai'm, and the prince Abu Nasr ibn Makula mentioned Jarir in his book, and said: Jarir ibn 'Abd Allah was a companion, counted among the Basrans, and he was mentioned by Ibn Mandah and Abu Nai'm.
