Biography of Tha'labah ibn al-Hakam
Tha'labah ibn al-Hakam al-Laythi settled in Basra, then moved to Kufa, but none of them attributed to him, he is Tha'labah ibn al-Hakam ibn 'Urfata ibn al-Harith ibn Laqit ibn Ya'mur al-Shadakh ibn 'Awf ibn Ka'b ibn 'Amir ibn Layth ibn Bakr ibn 'Abd Manat ibn Kinanah al-Kinani, then al-Laythi.
He said: I was a young boy during the era of the Messenger of Allah.
He was reported to have narrated by: Simak ibn Harb, Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, witnessed the Battle of Khaybar.
We were informed by Abu al-Fadl 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad, with his chain of transmission to Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi, from Shu'bah, from Simak, who said: I heard Tha'labah ibn al-Hakam, saying: We were with the Prophet ﷺ, and the people took some sheep, so he forbade them, and the pots were lifted up.
And he was reported to have narrated by Israel, from Simak, from Tha'labah, who said: We took some sheep on the day of Khaybar.
And he was reported to have narrated by Asbat, from Simak, from Tha'labah, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The people took some red camels on the day of Khaybar, and they slaughtered them, and they cooked them, and the Prophet ﷺ ordered the pots to be lifted up.
And he was reported to have narrated by Jarir, from Jarir, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Tha'labah, from the Prophet ﷺ, without mentioning Ibn 'Abbas.
