Biography of Umayyah ibn Abi Ubaidah
Dhakha'ir al-Uqba: 'Amīyah b. Abī 'Ubaydah b. Himmām b. al-Ḥārith b. Bakr b. Zayd b. Mālik b. Ḥanẓalah b. Mālik b. Zayd Manāt b. Tamīm al-Tamīmī al-Ḥanẓalī, a confederate of Banū Nufayl b. 'Abd al-Manāf.
His lineage is Abu 'Umar, and he is the father of Ya'la b. 'Amīyah, who is also known as: Ya'la b. Munyah, a female companion, and his father 'Amīyah was a companion, as was his son Ya'la.
Amīyah visited the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, pledge us to migration and he said: There will be no migration after the conquest, but rather jihad and intention.
We were informed by Yahya b. Mahmud b. Sa'd al-Thaqafi, who said in his chain of transmission to Ibn Abi 'Asim: We were informed by Abu al-Rubayyi', who informed us by Fulayh b. Sulayman, from al-Zuhri, from 'Amr b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Ya'la, from his father, from Ya'la b. Munyah, who said: I came with my father 'Amīyah to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the conquest, and I said: O Messenger of Allah, pledge my father to migration, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I will pledge him to jihad, for migration has ceased.
This was also reported by Ibn Mandah and Abu 'Umar.
