Biography of Usamah ibn Malik
S: Usāmah ibn Mālik Abū al-'Ashrā' al-Dārmī said al-Ḥāfiz Abū Mūsā: 'Abdān ibn Muḥammad al-Maruzi mentioned that he is a Companion, but he was mistaken in that, because Abū al-'Ashrā's name was said to be: Usāmah with many differences in it, but his father was a Companion, not him. Although 'Abdān was known for his memorization, and al-Khaṭīb mentioned him in the history of Baghdad, and al-Ṭabarānī and others wrote from him, yet no one is immune to mistakes and errors, and who claims that after the Prophet's ﷺ statement: I am only a human, I make mistakes and I am correct, and I forget just as you forget.'
'Abdān mentioned in this translation a hadith from Abū al-'Ashrā', from his father, who said: and we mentioned
