Biography of Usayd ibn Jariya
B S: Usayd, with a short vowel on the 'u', also; he is Usayd ibn Jariyah ibn Usayd ibn 'Abd Allāh ibn Ghayrah ibn 'Awf ibn Thaqif, and he is Qasi ibn Manbih ibn Bakr ibn Hawazin.
He accepted Islam on the Day of Conquest [of Makkah], and witnessed the Battle of Hunayn.
Abū 'Umar said: He was the grandfather of 'Amr ibn Abī Sufyān ibn Usayd, who related a hadith about Ishāq, the sacrificed one, from the Prophet, narrated by al-Zuhrī.
Al-Bukhārī said: It was said that he was 'Amr ibn Usayd, but the former is more correct.
He was mentioned by Abū 'Umar and Abū Mūsā.
