Biography of Zanba'i ibn Salamah
Zanb`a b. Salama al-Jadhama Abu Ru'wa b. Zanb`a, said Ibn Mandah, and Abu Nai'm.
He said Abu 'Umar: Zanb`a b. Ru'wa b. Zanb`a al-Jadhama, known as Abu Ru'wa after his son Ru'wa, used to descend to Palestine.
Ibn Jurayj, from 'Amr b. Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather 'Abd Allah b. 'Amr b. al-'As: that Zanb`a found a slave-boy with his wet-nurse, cut off his foreskin, and perforated his nose, so he came to the slave-boy to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and mentioned that to him, so the Prophet said: 'What made you do what you did?' He said: I did such and such.
The Prophet said to the slave-boy: 'Go, you are free.'
It was narrated by the three (Ibn Manda, Abū Nuʿaym, Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr).
I said: Ibn Mandah and Abu Nai'm mentioned his name, and they omitted it from his lineage, so he is Zanb`a b. Ru'wa b. Salama, and his lineage has been mentioned before in Ru'wa, and Allah knows best.
