Biography of Zari' ibn Amir

Zara' ibn 'Amir al-'Abdi from 'Abd al-Qais, his kunya was Abu al-Waz', and it was said: he was Zara' ibn Zara'.

The first is more correct, and he had a son named al-Waz', by which he was known.

Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi reported from Matir ibn al-'Ayniq, from Umm Aban bint al-Waz' ibn al-Zara': that her grandfather visited the Prophet ﷺ with the Ashja' tribe, and with him was his son, either his son or his nephew, who was insane. When they presented themselves to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have brought my son, or my nephew who is insane, to you to invoke Allah for him.'

He said: 'Bring him to me.'

So he brought him to him and he invoked for him, and he was cured, and there was no one in the delegation who preferred him over him.

He also reported a long hadith from him, which I have summarized.

He was reported by the three.
