Biography of Zuhayr ibn Abi Umayyah
Zuhayr ibn Abi Umayyah is mentioned in Al-Mu'allifat Qulubuhum, as stated by Abu 'Umar, who said: He is a man of discernment, but I do not know him.
Abu Nai'm and Ibn Manda said, and Abu Nai'm also said: Zuhayr ibn Abi Umayyah, it is also said: the son of 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Umayyah.
It is reported from Israel, from Ibrahim ibn Mihjar, from Mujahid, from As-Sa'ib, who said: Uthman came to me with Zuhayr ibn Abi Umayyah, and we sought permission to visit the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He gave me permission, and I entered upon him, and he praised me in his presence, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'I know him better than you two, did you not have a partner in pre-Islamic times?' I said, 'Yes, by my father and mother, I was a good partner,' it is said: He is Zuhayr ibn Abi Umayyah ibn al-Mughira ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar ibn al-Makhzum, the brother of Umm Salama, and the son of the paternal uncle of Khalid ibn al-Walid ibn al-Mughira, if that is the case, then he is the paternal uncle of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, his mother being Umm Hakim, Umm Salama's sister.
