Biography of Bushayr ibn al-Khasasiyah

Bashir is known as the son of al-Khassaasiyah.

They differed in his genealogy, it was said: Bashir b. Yazid b. Ma'bud b. Dhabab b. Sabi', and it was said: Bashir b. Ma'bud b. Sharahiyl b. Sabi' b. Dhabari b. Sados b. Shayban b. Dhuhal b. Tha'laba b. 'Akkaba b. Sa'b b. 'Ali b. Bakr b. Wa'il, and his name was Zuhm, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) named him Bashir.

We were informed by Yahya b. Mahmud b. Sa'd, in writing, with his chain of transmission to Abu Bakr b. Abi Asim, he said: Our narrator Abu Bakr b. Abi Shaybah informed us, Bashir b. Abi Shaybah informed us, 'Affan informed us, Hammad b. Zayd informed us, from Ayub, from Dayasim al-Sadusi, from Bashir b. al-Khassaasiyah, that he came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) named him Bashir, and it was said: he was called the son of al-Khassaasiyah, his genealogy was attributed to his mother, in their saying.

Hisham al-Kalbi said: Sados b. Shayban had two sons, Tha'laba and Dhabari, and their mother was al-Khassaasiyah from the Azd, and the one who came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) was Bashir b. al-Khassaasiyah, his genealogy was attributed to his grandmother, and he was one of those who resided in Basra, he was narrated from: Bashir b. Nahik, Jari b. Kali'b, and Laila, the wife of Bashir, and others.

He narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) sound hadiths, and he was one of the emigrants from Rabi'ah, Abu al-Muthanna al-Abdi said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to pledge allegiance, he said: Do you testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, and that you will fast Ramadan, and that you will perform the pilgrimage to the House, and that you will pay the zakat, and that you will strive in the path of Allah?, he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, as for the zakat, what is my excuse, except that I have ten camels as gifts from my family and their loads, and as for the jihad, they claim that it is from the one who has a guardian, and he has become angry with Allah, ﷿ so I fear that if I am present at the battle, I will be killed, and I dislike death.
