Biography of Ja'far ibn Abi al-Hakam
Usd al-Ghabah: Ja'far ibn Abi al-Hakam was mentioned by al-Hamani, and Muhammad ibn Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah in al-Wahdan.
Al-Hamani narrated from Abdullah ibn Ja'far al-Makhrami, from Abd al-Hakam ibn Sahl, who said: I saw Ja'far ibn Abi al-Hakam, and I was eating from here and there, so he said: Woe to you, my nephew! This is how the devil eats. The Prophet ﷺ used to eat, and his hand would not remain between his hands.
And it was narrated by al-Nu'man ibn Shablan, from al-Makhrami, from Abd al-Hakam, from Ja'far, who said: I saw al-Hakam, meaning: the son of Rafi', and he mentioned something similar.
It was narrated by Abu Naim and Abu Musa.
