Janadah ibn Abi Umayyah

Jandal with the ha' is Jandal ibn Abi Umayya al-Azdi then al-Zahran.

His father's name was Umayya, Malik, as stated by Abu 'Umar, from Khalifa, and others.

The Bukhari said: Umayya's name was many, and Ibn Abi Hatim, from his father, from Jandal ibn Abi Umayya al-Dusi, stated that Umayya's name was big, and his father had a companion, he was a Syrian, and he witnessed the conquest of Egypt, and 'Uqba in Kufa.

Muhammad ibn Sa'd, the writer of Waqidi said: Jandal ibn Abi Umayya was not Jandal ibn Malik, who is mentioned later.

Abu 'Umar said: He was as Muhammad ibn Sa'd said, there were two Jandal ibns at the hands of the scholars in this matter, he said: Jandal ibn Abi Umayya was on the invasion of the Romans in the sea for Muawiya, from the time of 'Uthman ﴿peace be upon him﴾ to the days of Yazid, except for the days of Fitnah, and he spent a winter in the sea in the year fifty-nine.

Abu 'Umar said: He was one of the young companions, and he heard from the Prophet ﷺ and narrated from: Mu'adh ibn Jabal, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Uthman, and Ibn 'Umar.

He narrated from: Abu Qabil al-Ma'afri, Marthad ibn 'Abd Allah, Busr ibn Sa'id, Shayim ibn Baytan, and al-Harith ibn Yazid al-Hadrami.
