Hushab ibn Tukhiyah

Huashib b. Thakifa, and it was said Thakima with a mīm, the son of Amr b. Sharhbil b. Ubayd b. Amr b. Huashib b. Al-Azlam b. Al-Han b. Shaddad b. Zura'a b. Qais b. San'a b. Saba' al-Asghar b. Ka'b b. Zayd b. Sihd b. Amr b. Qais b. Mu'awiya b. Jashm b. Abd Shams b. Wail b. 'Ufayr b. Hamir al-Himyari al-Ahlan, and he was known as Dhu Zulim. He converted to Islam during the reign of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and was counted among the people of Yemen. It was said: He had come to the Prophet ﷺ, and the people of sir and ma'rifa agreed that the Prophet ﷺ had sent Jarir b. 'Abd Allah al-Bajali to him, and he had written a letter to him to pretend to be with Dhu al-Kala', and Furayz al-Daylami.

He was among those who obeyed them in the killing of Aswad the Liar the 'Ansi.

Muhammad b. 'Uthman b. Huashib narrated from his father from his grandfather, said: When Allah Most High revealed Muhammad, He appointed forty horsemen with 'Abd Shar, and they came to Medina, he said: Who among you is Muhammad? Then he said: What have you come to us with? If it is true, we will follow it. He said: 'You will establish prayer, give zakat, protect life, enjoin good, and forbid evil.' Abd Shar said: This is good, so I have become a Muslim. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: What is your name? He said, 'Abd Shar.' He said: 'You are 'Abd Khayr.' He wrote a response to him to Huashib Dhu Zulim. Huashib and Dhu al-Kala' were leaders among their people, and they were followed by their people from Yemen in the war of Siffin with Mu'awiya, and they were both killed at Siffin. Huashib was killed by Sulayman b. Surad al-Khuzai.

Muhammad b. Suqah narrated from 'Abd al-Wahid al-Dimashqi said: Huashib al-Himyari called out to 'Ali on the day of Siffin, he said: Turn away from us, O son of Abu Talib, for we invoke Allah in our blood and your blood, and we leave between you and your Iraq, and between us and your Sham, and we protect the blood of the Muslims.

'Ali ﵁ said: Far be it from you, O son of Umm Zulim. By Allah, if I knew that appeasement would benefit me in the religion of Allah, I would do it, and it would be easier for me. But Allah did not approve of the people of the Quran to remain silent and appease, until Allah's matter becomes clear.

Abu 'Umar said: It was narrated from Huashib al-Himyari a sound hadith in the virtue of one who dies leaving behind a child.
