Biography of Khubayb ibn Asaf

Khubayb ibn Isaf, it was said: Yisaf, son of Unbata ibn Amr ibn Khadij ibn Amir ibn Jashm ibn al-Harith ibn al-Khazraj ibn Tha'laba, the Ansaari Khazrajite.

He witnessed Badr, Uhud, and the trench, and was in Medina, and his Islam was delayed until the Prophet ﷺ went to Badr, so he followed the Prophet ﷺ on the road, and he became Muslim.

We were informed by Abu Yasir ibn Abi Habba with his chain of narration, from Abdullah ibn Ahmad, he said: My father informed me, that Yazid informed us, that al-Mustalim ibn Sa'id al-Thaqafi informed us, from Khubayb ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Khubayb al-Ansari, from his father, from his grandfather, he said: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was intending to go out for a campaign, I and a man from my people, and we had not become Muslim, so we said: Indeed, we are ashamed that our people should witness a battle that we do not witness with them, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Have you both become Muslim?' So we said: No, so he said: 'We do not seek help from the polytheists against the polytheists,' he said: So we became Muslim, and we witnessed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

We were informed by Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad with his chain of narration, from Yunus ibn Bukayr, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, he said: Khubayb, meaning his grandfather, struck a blow on the day of Badr, so his share fell, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell upon him, and his mother took him back, and he departed.
