Biography of Khuzaymah ibn Thabit al-Ansari
Khuzaima b. Thabit b. al-Fakih b. Tha'laba b. Sa'ida b. Amir b. Ghanm b. Amir b. Khattam b. Jashm b. Malik b. al-Aws al-Ansari al-Awsi, then from Bani Khattam, and his mother Kabsha bint Aws from Bani Sa'ida, known as: Abu 'Umarah.
He was a man of the two testimonies, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made his testimony equal to the testimony of two men, and he and 'Amir b. 'Adi b. Khara'cha would break the idols of Bani Khattam.
He witnessed Badr and all the battles that followed, and the banner of Bani Khattam was in his hand on the day of the conquest, and he witnessed with 'Ali ﵁ the Camel, Siffin, and did not fight in them, so when 'Ammar b. Yasir was killed at Siffin, Khuzaima said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Ammar will be killed by the treacherous group.'
Then he drew his sword and fought until he was killed, and Siffin was in the year 37, as Abu 'Umar said.
And Abu Ahmad al-Hakim said: He witnessed one of them, mentioned by Ibn al-Qudah, said: And the people of the Maghazi do not confirm that he witnessed one of them, and he witnessed the battles that followed, and Allah knows best.
His son 'Umarah reported that the Prophet ﷺ bought a horse from Suwayb b. Qais al-Muharibi, and Suwayb denied it, so Khuzaima b. Thabit testified to the Prophet ﷺ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'What made you testify without being present with us?' He said: You spoke the truth with what you brought, and I knew that you do not speak except the truth, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever testifies to Khuzaima or on his behalf is sufficient.'
We were informed by Ahmad b. 'Uthman b. Abu 'Ali b. Mahdi, reading to him and I listening, and al-Husayn b. Yuhan b. Abu Iyadh b. al-Nu'man al-Yamani al-Bawari, with permission, they said: Narrated to us Abu al-Qasim Isma'il b. Abu al-Hasan 'Ali b. al-Husayn al-Hammami al-Naysaburi, narrated to us the learned Abu Muslim Muhammad b. 'Ali b. Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Mahriz al-Nahwi, narrated to us Abu Bakr Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. 'Asim b. Zadan, narrated to us Ma'mun b. Harun b. Tusi, narrated to us Abu 'Ali al-Husayn b. 'Isa b. Hamdan al-Bistami al-Tai, narrated to us 'Abd Allah b. Numayr, narrated to us Hisham b. 'Urwah, narrated to me 'Amra bint Khuzaima, from 'Umarah b. Khuzaima, from his father Khuzaima b. Thabit, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about istitaba, so he said: 'Three stones without a bone.'
The Zuhri reported from Ibn Khuzaima, from his father, that he saw in what he saw in his sleep that he prostrated on the forehead of the Prophet ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ lay down for him and said: 'Your vision is true', so he prostrated on the forehead of the Prophet ﷺ Ghayyam: It was said: With a fa' in the ghayn, a kasra under it with two dots, and a nun.
It was said: With a fa' in the 'ayn, and two nun's, and Allah knows best.
They all transmitted it.
