Salama ibn Nufayl

Salama ibn Hisham ibn al-Mughira ibn Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Makhzum al-Qurashi al-Makhzumi. He was one of the early Muslims, and his mother was Dhubaa'ah bint Amir ibn Qurt ibn Salama ibn Qaisir.

He was the brother of Abu Jahl ibn Hisham and the uncle of Khalid ibn al-Walid.

He was one of the best of the Companions and their nobles. He migrated to Abyssinia, and Salama was prevented from migrating to Medina. He was tortured for Allah's sake. The Prophet ﷺ used to invoke blessings upon him and others like him in his prayers during the Qunut.

He did not participate in the Battle of Badr because of this. The Prophet ﷺ used to say in his Qunut during the morning prayer:

He said: 'O Allah, save al-Walid ibn al-Walid, Salama ibn Hisham, and 'Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah.'
